SUMMER TRAINING

We strongly believe that Spring and Summer Training should be dedicated to individual skill development. Skating is by far the most important skill in the game of hockey, and as the speed of the game increases at all levels, the importance of Skating will continue to be the most important skill.

Summer Training programs are comprised of 16 two-hour sessions and allow us to delve into more progressions and offer more skill-specific training. Specifically, we will cover our Core Curriculum Power Skating Progressions and Stickhandling Moves and Fakes including: Simple Dribble; Wide Dribble; Forehand and Backhand Fakes; Pull-In Move; Pull-In Push-Out Move; MacKinnon Move; Toe Drag Move; Spinorama Move; Gretzky Move; Dahlin Move; and the Datsyuk Move. Most importantly, we teach the skating techniques that are necessary to execute the Stickhandling Moves at full speed.

The full-week Monday through Friday programs are focused on getting players moving at top speed with puck on stick. We teach Inside Edge; Outside Edge; Arc Skating; Crossovers and Tight Turns along with specific Stickhandling Moves, Dekes and Fakes. The goal of the week-long camps is to have the players flying with eyes up and puck on stick.

Philosophically, we are focused on helping hockey players grow their passion for the game of hockey. Immersing the players in a positive hockey-rich environment and teaching them the most important individual skills will boost their self-confidence and help them grow their passion for the game.
